Packing

In 2002, we moved into our new 42,000 square feet packing facility on our farm in Hegins, Pennsylvania. The new building allowed us to employ new technology from Europe to assist us in making our potato packages better. We are very proud of this modern facility and strive to keep it one of the cleanest and innovative plants in the country. Attention to detail is what separates our operation from the rest.
Weighing & Coding
After grading, the potatoes are electronically weighed and packaged. The product then receives a code that identifies the date on which it was packed. This code also assists us in identifying quality issues if they arise.
Packing Environment
We work hard to maintain the cleanliness of our packing environment for our customers and for our employees. We invite you to visit our farm to witness the Huntsinger difference.
Packaging Materials
In conjunction with Walnut Packaging in East Farmingdale, New York, we developed a patented potato bag that would protect the potatoes from the harmful effects of store lighting. Our bag contains a co-extruded layer that blocks the harmful light from damaging the potatoes, and a large clear display window on the back so consumers can see exactly what they are purchasing. No attempt was made to use colored mesh or print to enhance the appearance of the potatoes. With our pack, we continually provide the highest quality potatoes possible, because we have nothing to hide.
